Perfect Pastels

Pinterest is uh-maze-ing.
[[It also kills me when I'm supposed to be working because I can spend way too much time on it.]]

If you spend any time on pinterest and are anything like me, you probably want to change your hair all the time! I have been really wanting to color my hair a pastel color for some time now but since I work in an office I have hesitated because I want to maintain a professional appearance. So to to assist others who may be in my position I collected a variety of pictures showing women who have pastel hair color that may be suitable for the workplace (depending on your dress code). These colors are subtle and don't scream for too much attention but they are very much attention grabbing.

To achieve any of these looks, please see a professional. The stylist will most likely have to lighten your hair unless you already have the level of lightness needed. You should never attempt to lighten/bleach your hair at home. Your hair is very delicate and needs to be lightened gradually and with professional products. [No, Sally's Beauty Supply doesn't count]
Bleeding is a thing! When rinsing your freshly colored locks you may notice the color bleeding onto the parts of your hair that you may not want colored. It's especially frustrating when you are wanting to add more than one color to your hair or you have all over blonde and are just adding streaks. This happens more often than not and is another reason why you should let a professional handle this job.

Please keep in mind that many of these looks need to be maintained regularly so if you don't have the time or money to keep your hair looking fresh, then hair chalk may be best for you!

Hair chalk is a temporary pastel chalk used to create color effects. It can be applied to wet or dry hair for a quick burst of color. Twisting the hair as you rub the chalk on helps the pigment to transfer easier and darker. If you have light blonde hair, do not wet your hair when applying chalk. Dark hair may not show the color very well so you might want to lighten a few strands to really help the color pop. This chalk washes out with water so it will only last between washes.
Check out this video below to a step by step tutorial.

I remember hair chalk being a big thing when I was in 5th grade. We had combs with the chalk at the base of the teeth and you would comb your hair allowing the chalk to transfer.
