Perfect Pastels

Pinterest is uh-maze-ing.
[[It also kills me when I'm supposed to be working because I can spend way too much time on it.]]

If you spend any time on pinterest and are anything like me, you probably want to change your hair all the time! I have been really wanting to color my hair a pastel color for some time now but since I work in an office I have hesitated because I want to maintain a professional appearance. So to to assist others who may be in my position I collected a variety of pictures showing women who have pastel hair color that may be suitable for the workplace (depending on your dress code). These colors are subtle and don't scream for too much attention but they are very much attention grabbing.

To achieve any of these looks, please see a professional. The stylist will most likely have to lighten your hair unless you already have the level of lightness needed. You should never attempt to lighten/bleach your hair at home. Your hair is very delicate and needs to be lightened gradually and with professional products. [No, Sally's Beauty Supply doesn't count]
Bleeding is a thing! When rinsing your freshly colored locks you may notice the color bleeding onto the parts of your hair that you may not want colored. It's especially frustrating when you are wanting to add more than one color to your hair or you have all over blonde and are just adding streaks. This happens more often than not and is another reason why you should let a professional handle this job.

Please keep in mind that many of these looks need to be maintained regularly so if you don't have the time or money to keep your hair looking fresh, then hair chalk may be best for you!

Hair chalk is a temporary pastel chalk used to create color effects. It can be applied to wet or dry hair for a quick burst of color. Twisting the hair as you rub the chalk on helps the pigment to transfer easier and darker. If you have light blonde hair, do not wet your hair when applying chalk. Dark hair may not show the color very well so you might want to lighten a few strands to really help the color pop. This chalk washes out with water so it will only last between washes.
Check out this video below to a step by step tutorial.

I remember hair chalk being a big thing when I was in 5th grade. We had combs with the chalk at the base of the teeth and you would comb your hair allowing the chalk to transfer.

Pixie

I love short hair. I could go on and on about why but sometimes my mind goes off on a tangent and I tend to ramble (like what I'm doing now). So rather than bore you with my words, I collected some insightful quotes about short hair and some beautiful pictures by a few amazing stylist's for you to admire.

"..it still takes a truly beautiful and confident woman to pull this style off. A gal with short hair immediately calls attention to her face, and chances are she has high cheeks and killer eyes. Mind you, a lot of men are not attracted to this style, but of course, the woman who wears it probably doesn’t care what they think." - glo

"..it’s a risky, demonstrative and beautiful thing to have short hair." -Elite Daily

"..there’s just something naturally sensual about a woman who doesn’t need to assert her femininity through vices that are consistent with outward beauty." -Kylie McConville

"The pixie haircut is still on trend and is the perfect way to stand out in the crowd. Not all pixies are created equal, so really take time looking at pictures and styles for subtle differences to get a customized pixie that is perfect for you. Some pixies are divinely feminine while others are extremely edgy or messy. Don’t forget about your hair color to take your hairstyle to a whole new level. Be inspired!" - Irene Bredthauer

Here are some amazing haircuts but some of the fiercest stylists I know.

"When I'm cutting a pixie haircut I feel most in my element. I often use a tool called the
Donald Scott 'chopstix' which has been referred to as my magic wand by my guests. I'm almost like a
painter or a sculptor. I never know what's hiding under there, I just get to work and at the end I let the hair tell me what our finished product will be!"

"Here's just one of the many pixie-cuts I've done this year @ Lotus Den Hair Studio in Oceanside.
This guest knew exactly what she wanted! So this Pixie Cut and Rich Chocolate Color, was clearly
inspired by the Hollywood Actress Ginnifer Goodwin. From the hit TV show, Once Upon a Time.
I think I knocked it out of the park!"

"She came to me with an embarrassing hair emergency! She had a knot that got out
of control and eventually turned into a huge dread-lock
She was extremely nervous about going this short but it had to be done.
She looks absolutely beautiful with a pixie, as you can see, and really rocks it!" - Wendy

This asymmetrical cut is perfect for those who want that added
edge. It works wonders on heart shaped faces keeping the length longer around the face and volume on top to bring the eyes up.

One reason women don't want to cut their hair short is because
they don't want to always have the same look. These two pictures
are of the same cut but styled differently. There are so many different
ways to style short hair. From curling to straightening, coloring and
chalking, short hair is very versatile, you just have to get creative with it!
